A Holdings Company
We have a lot of internal fun & ideas at Weichie.com. To list all our current projects we drafted a Holdings Company – currently just for fun! The numbers are not backed by anything and it is not for purchase. It is our way of keeping track of our current sidepojects to see how they are growing.
The idea
How it all started? Actually, three to be precise and a total length of 5 years. The first seed of the idea was planted on a business trip to Berlin, where Bob visited a company called Rocket Internet. This was an investment company that kickstarted and launched multiple businesses a day. They take a working concept in one part of the world, and duplicate it in another. Their offices where very impressive, and I thought by myself: “This would be nice to have one day.”
The second spark that led to our Weichie Holdings company was thanks to the founder of the agency I first worked for. It was called Night Owl Interactive and was based in New York City. The founder, my internship mentor, had a very entrepreneurial mindset. Because of that, we also made a lot of projects for starting businesses in New York. To help them get started, we made those projects for free, in return for revenue share. Every sale they made on their webshop, the company received a small percentage. My bosses dream back then was to start a Night Owls Funding agency that only received money from those revenue share companies. And all employees received some shares from the Fundings company. I thought it was genious, but it never took off.
A third building stone of the Weichie Holdings company is thanks to another big digital agency in New York. This one called Barrel and they actually have a real Barrel Holdings company! They are already living the dream. They have actual companies, like digital agencies in their portfolio. While our Weichie Holding only holds internal SaaS projects that generate revenue.
A virtual stock
Our Weichie Holdings company is a virtual stock, meaning the calculations of the value of our share is not backed by any real money. The money that comes in, the performance of our side-projects is real, but the WEICHIE token has no value or initial investment.
We set the starting price at €10, and by every sale we make, the price goes up. How much is currently a simple Excel sheet that does those calculations. If we have good months, the price goes up, in months we make less sales – the price goes down.
The more our side projects sell, the higher our WEICHIE token price become. But it does not take into account operating costs, marketing, development hours, customer support, people investing in our holdings company, …
To just get started and the word out, this is currently a fun side-project as well to hopefully make real one day!
